One thing I love about the hotels in Scotland is the spas. When you are a typical Londoner like I am it can be hard to imagine the spas anywhere else in the UK would be on par but Scotland matches up and scores pretty well with hotel spas.
In the four years I lived in Scotland, I lived just under 10 miles from The Fairmont hotel and I was lucky to have access to some of the amenities by way of the hubby’s membership. The Fairmont is a luxury hotel and within it there are various restaurants, a fitness studio facility, swimming pool, the spa and naturally its golf courses.
The is set in a beautiful and romantic scenery overlooking the sea with wide country side open spaces around it. The skies are always blue in the summer creating a setting for a romantic get away or a destion for a girls weekend away. This part of Scotland is quiet and serene. There are no noise whatsoever and the iodine filled air leaves you with feeling healthy all the time. The surrounding picturesque villages or Boar Hills, Crail, Anstruther and a few others that are so small that you may miss them if you blink all have their own speciaity catch such as the dressed crabs from Crail.
This part of Scotland is magical and nothing you could ever imagine until you arrive and it certainly adds a special touch to the rewarding time you will have at The Fairmont which is a 5 star hotel. The Fairmont is also a popular golf destination with its Torrance and the Kittocks golf courses and often holds golf championships in Scotland.
The health spa at Fairmont St Andrews has previously been awarded 5 bubbles by the Good Spa Guide. It provides several treatments, the indoor swimming pool is 16-meters long and there is also a spa bath, sauna and a steam room. There are 12 spa treatment rooms, two relaxation rooms, a nail bar, a male grooming room and a couples treatment suite. For non members of the spa, a day pass cost £30(2013) which gives access to all facilities including sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi, swimming pool and the fitness studio for a whole day.
The hotel itself has 209 bedrooms (including 17 suites and two external manor homes) and events space. The Manor homes have 4 bedrooms or 5 bathrooms, a kitchen, dining-room, living area and business office.
